Det går mange historier om havsnissen som han kalles. Han kan bli både stor som et fjell og like liten som en spiker og han er grå i påkledningen sin. Han bruker å vandre langs havet og passe på båtene og naustene til di folkene som har tatt vare på han ved å legge igjen fisk til han nede ved naustet eller dem som lagt igjen annen mat eller godteri ved plassene dem har vært å fisket på. Er man snill med Havnissen så er man sikker på å ha lykke med seg når man ferdes langs havet.

There are many stories about the sea-santa as he is called. He can be as big as a mountain and as small as a nail and he is gray in his clothing. He use to walk along the ocean and watch the boats and boathouses to your people who have taken care of him by leaving fish to him down at the boathouse, or those who left some other food or candy in those places have been fishing on. If you are kind to sea-santa then one is sure to have good luck with them when walking along the ocean and travelling on the ocean.
