Landbruk er den næringa som pregar bygda mest. Dei fleste gardsbruka driv med mjølkeproduksjon, kjøtproduksjon og/eller ullproduksjon. Dessutan er det mange som driv med attåtnæringar.
Haukedalen har eit flott terreng for friluftsliv, jakt og fiske, og Haukedalsvatnet er kjent for god og flott aure. Bygda er utgangspunktet for mange turar til skog, fjell og stølar, og det er oppmerkt mange stiar for både lette og tunge turar. Fleire av dei andre geocachane i Haukedalen er plasserte i tilknyting til flotte turmål.
Denne cachen er plassert på ein rasteplass eit lite stykke etter Storesvatunnelen.

Haukedalen is a community situated east in the municipality of Førde and literally in the middle of Sogn og Fjordane County. It has about 130 inhabitants and is located about 40 km (25 miles) from the centre of Førde, separated by the mountain pass over Rørvikfjellet. The junction at Rørvikflåten on National Road 13 leads to Haukedalen. The community has its own church, Haukedalen kyrkje, and primary school, Frøysland skule. Moreover, one should mention that the composer Johannes Haarklou was from Haukedalen.
Agriculture is the most evident sector in the community. Most of its farms engage in milk, meat and/or wool production. Besides farming, many of the inhabitants have a second occupation.
Haukedalen has a great terrain for outdoor recreation, hunting and fishing, and the lake Haukedalsvatnet is known for its good and beauteous trout. The community constitutes the starting point for many forest, shieling and mountain hikes, and there are many marked trails for both easy and strenuous trips. Several of the other geocaches in Haukedalen are located en route to great hike destinations.
This cache is placed at a lay-by a short distance after the tunnel Storesvatunnelen.
