Geocache Description:

This nature preserve area was protected in 1983. It is especially known for its rich and varied bird life. Some species that you'll find here are quite rare. This is also a nice detour for those of us whom often drive from Aure and Halsa to Trondheim and sometimes find the E39 stretch over Hemnekjølen somewhat tidious. Driving through Svorkmyran is quiet and idyllic in summer.

ENGLISH:

Svorkmyran is a large and flat wetland area. The river "Svorka" runs through the little valley and eventually deltas into the "Gangås" lake further north.-east. This kind of flat river landscape is uncommon for Norway. The area is both rich in plant and bird life. Some of the best observations for bird watchers are when this area is used as a resting place for birds travelling north for summer or south for winter. This area was protected in 1983 and the protected area is 800 acre. That's actually a fairly big area for this kind of protection plan in 1983. It is an indication on how this area was, and is, valued.

The fact that this wetland area is untouched by any technical insertions, makes it rare and unique within the Trøndelag counties. The river meanders along the valley floor and through several different kinds marshlands. Some that are very rich in birdlife and other plant and mammal varieties. There are more than 110 different species of birds that have been spotted from the cache site alone.

The cache site is a nice picnic place or a place to just sit and watch for a while. Thats is what it is there for. Please respects rules and regulations for this area. You are fine walking around the cache area, and you can park the car just on the other side of the road, but camping and other activities in the protected area is not allowed

Happy caching!
