Velkommen til HåloGeoTour (GT91)!
Dette er en serie med 40 geocacher plassert i Harstad og omegn. Serien har som formål å vise fram områdets Vikinghistorie. Både hvordan vikingene levde, hvor de oppholdt seg, hvilke spor de har etterlatt seg, og hva de var opptatte av. Dersom du lokaliserer alle 40 cachene og leser samtlige beskrivelser vil du få et godt overblikk av historien.
Navnet HåloGeoTour, kommer av navnet på den lokale geocachingsforeningen for Harstad og omegn, HåloGeo, kombinert med GeoTour. HåloGeo har hentet en del av sitt navn fra Hålogaland (
norrønt: Hálogaland), som er det historiske navnet på Nord- Norge. Hålogaland var et selvstendig småkongerike helt fram til Norge ble kristnet. Området strakte seg utover i de nåværende fylkene Nordland og Troms, mer spesifikt nord for Namdalen i Trøndelag og sør for Lyngenfjorden i Troms.
Samtlige av cachene skal være forholdsvis enkle å lokalisere. Du vil med denne serien også få et godt innblikk i geocaching, og noen av de ulike typene geocacher (både tradisjonelle, mysterier, multier, wherigo og letterbokser er inkludert i denne serien).
Mange av cachene har en hengelås, kodene til disse eller hvordan du kommer fram til koden står i hintet for cachen. I samtlige av cachene finner du enten en kode på tre bokstaver eller et stempel til bruk i passet ditt. Dersom du ikke allerede har et pass så kan dette lastes ned og printes herfra:

NB! Det er viktig at loggbøker, stempler og stempelputer ikke fjernes fra cachene.

Vi anbefaler at du planlegger å bruke minimum noen dager på å lokalisere samtlige av geocachene i denne GeoTour-en. Det er geocacher plassert fra Tjeldøya i sør, til Krøttøya i nord og Ibestad i vest. Du skal selvfølgelig også innom Tore Hunds rike på Bjarkøya og Asbjørn Selsbanes hjemsted på Trondenes. Vi anbefaler derfor at du planlegger godt i forhold til fergeruter og hurtigbåt. Vi ønsker også å gjøre oppmerksom på at det ikke går an å kjøpe mat til alle tider på alle øyene du skal innom, så planlegg godt og ha med matpakke når du skal ut på tur. Dersom oppgitt anbefaler vi at du bruker de foreslåtte parkeringskoordinatene. Welcome to HåloGeoTour (GT91)!
This is a series of 40 geocaches placed in and around Harstad. The purpose of the series is to show you the history of the Vikings in the area. Both were the Vikings lived, what traces they left and what they were concerned with. If you complete the series and read all the descriptions you will get a very good overview of the viking history of the area.
The name HåloGeoTour, is derived from the name of the local geocaching organization for Harstad and the nearby area, HåloGeo, in combination with GeoTour. HåloGeo has taken parts of its name from Hålogaland (
old norse: Hálogaland) which is the historical name for Northern- Norway. Hålogaland was an independent small kingdom until Norway had converted to Christianity. The area stretched over the current regions of Nordland and Troms, more specifically north of Namdalen in Trøndelag and south of Lyngenfjorden in Troms.
All of the geocaches should be relatively easy to locate. You will with this series get a good insight in to geocaching and some of the different types of geocaches. The series includes traditional, mystery, multi, wherigo and letterboxes.
Many of the geocaches in this GeoTour are equipped with a padlock. The code to unlock them, or how to encounter the code, can be found in the hint for the geocache. In all the geocaches you will find either a three letter code or a stamp to use in your passport. If you haven’t already got a passport you can download and print it here:

NB! It is important that you do not remove the logbooks, stamps or stamp pads from the geocaches.

We recommend that you plan to use a minimum of a few days to locate all the geocaches included in the HåloGeoTour. There are caches placed from Tjeldøya in the south, to Krøttøya in the north and Ibestad in the west. And you are of course going to visit the seat of Thorir Hund at Bjarkøya and Asbjørns Selsbane’s home place at Trondenes. We recommend that you plan well as you are dependent on both ferries and expressboat. We would also like you to be aware of not all the places you are going to visit has a place open to buy food/ drinks, so plan well and bring a packed lunch for your trip (if necessary). If given we recommend you to use the suggested parking coordinates. You can read more tips in the different cache descriptions, or a reference to where you can find more information.
