Dramaet om Asbjørn Selsbane, Tore Hund og Asbjørn si mor Sigrid får et dramatisk høydepunkt her i fjæra på Trondenes. På veien heim fra stevne i Vågan, i Lofoten, ble Asbjørn drept av spydet til Åsmund Grankjellson. Da Asbjørns lik kom til Trondenes lot Sigrid sende bud til sin svigerbror og Asbjørn sin onkel Tore Hund på Bjarkøy. Tore kom til da de «stelte med Asbjørns lik etter sin skikk» som det heter i Snorre: “Da han skulle fare fulgte Sigrid Tore til skipet og sier: «Her er en gave som jeg vil gi deg og jeg vil ønske du må få bruk for det. Her er det spydet som stod igjennom Asbjørn, sønn min, og det er blod på det enda, så du vet hvordan det høver i det såret du så på Asbjørn, din brorsønn. Om du vil gjøre et karstykke no, så slapp du dette spydet av hendene slik at det kom til å stå i brystet til Olav Digre. Og det sier jeg, du skal bli hver manns niding om du ikke hevner Asbjørn.» Så vendte hun og gikk. Tore var blitt så harm mens hun talte at han ikke kunne svare noen ting, han sanste ikke å slippe spydet, og han sanste ikke brygga, og om ikke folk hadde tatt og støttet ham, vilde han gått på sjøen, da han gikk ut på skipet.”
I slaget på Stiklestad fikk Tore Hund sjansen og oppfylte Sigrid sitt krav om hevn for Asbjørn. At han dermed gjorde Olav Digre til Olav den Hellige er en annen sak.

Laugen er en innsjø som ble til for ca. 4000 år siden. Innsjøen er ca. 300 m lang og 8 m på det dypeste. Pollenanalyse viser at det var dyrket korn i området på denne tiden.
Laugen og området rundt er idag landskapsvernområdet, hvor det blant annet er registrert ca. 40 hekkende fuglearter.
Det er et lite areal, men vegetasjonsmessig har den stor variasjon. Ca 174 av alle registrerte arter er kulturindikatorer.
Finaleboksen ligger i et naturvernområde, "Laugen Landskapsvernområde med dyrelivsfredning."

The drama around Asbjørn Selsbane, Thorir Hund and Asbjørn’s mother Sigrid gets to a dramatic peak here on the shores of Trondenes. On the way home from a convention in Vågan, Lofoten, Asbjørn was killed by the spear of Asmund Grankelson. When Asbjørn's corpse came to Trondenes, Sigrid sent a bid to his brother-in-law and Asbjørn's uncle Thorir Hund at Bjarkøy. Thorir came as "they were, in the usual way, dressing the corpse of Asbjorn" as it is called in Snorre: "When he returned Sigrid gave presents to all her friends, and followed Thorir to his ship; but before they parted she said, "It has so fallen out, Thorir, that my son has suffered by thy friendly counsel, but he did not retain life to reward thee for it; but although I have not his ability yet will I show my good will. Here is a gift I give thee, which I expect thou wilt use. Here is the spear which went through Asbjorn my son, and there is still blood upon it, to remind thee that it fits the wound thou hast seen on the corpse of thy brother's son Asbjorn. It would be a manly deed, if thou shouldst throw this spear from thy hand so that it stood in Olaf's breast; and this I can tell thee, that thou wilt be named coward in every man's mouth, if thou dost not avenge Asbjorn." Thereupon she turned about, and went her way. Thorir was so enraged at her words that he could not speak. He neither thought of casting the spear from him, nor took notice of the gangway; so that he would have fallen into the sea, if his men had not laid hold of him as he was going on board his ship.”
In the battle of Stiklestad, Thorir Hund got the chance and fulfilled Sigrid's claim for revenge for Asbjørn. That he thus made Olav Digre to Olav the Holy is another matter.

Laugen created 4000 years ago. The lake is about. 300 meters long and8 meters at the deepest. Pollen analysis shows that grain was grown in the area at this time.
Laugen and the surrounding area is today the landscape protection area, where among other things is registered approx. 40 nesting bird species.
It is a small area, but it has a great variety of vegetation. About 174 of all registered species are culture indicators.
The final box is located in a nature conservation area, " Laugen Landscaping area with wildlife conservation."
Show consideration when you are in this area and follow already paths, do not make any new ones.
