Geocache Description:

This neighborhood is rich in the history of early Evanston.

The brick building on this corner was the home of Thomas Blyth, founder of the Blyth & Fargo Company, and was later used as a hospital in the 1930s. In the 1950s it was divided into apartments. The Blyth & Fargo Building, also an historic part of Evanston, sits on Main Street between 9th and 10th streets, and houses several different businesses today.

Across the street from this cache is St. Paul's Episcopal Church. This church was built in 1884, and at the time was the only Protestant church in a community dominated by Mormons and Catholics. In its early history it hosted Lutherans, Methodists and Presbyterians in addition to its Episcopalian congregation.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
