Pinnacle Park Fairgrounds

Above: a view of Pinnacle Peak, for which the park is named

The Carbon County Fairgrounds, AKA Pinnacle Park are perched atop a hill overlooking the City of Price and parts of the Castle Valley.  The early morning view from the horse arenas is breathtaking as the sun rises over the West Tavaputs Plateau to the east and beams it rays across the Castle Valley.  To the west Pinnacle Peak (shown in the photo above) is in full view against the grey/blue mountains that are home to large natural gas reserves. Beyond those mountains looms the Manti-LaSal National Forest situated on the Wasatch Plateau.

Below Right: The newer Motocross track at the park is top notch!

Whatever your fancy, the fairgrounds likely have it! They are home to the Carbon County Softball Complex complete with four fields for both fast and slow pitch softball, electronic scoreboard, concession area  and a play area for children.  The Ice Skating Pond measures 170 ft x 100 ft. and is available based on weather conditions. The Model Airport is the home of the Desert Wings R/C Club and is named the Carbon County R/C Flying Field. The new Motocross track was named “Most Popular in Utah” by Dirt Bike Magazine.  The track is just short of two miles with ¼ mile straightaway.  This track has an automatic sprinkler system and offers a 40-bike starting gate.

The Fishing Pond is approximately 2.2 acres in size. The pond has an average depth of 10 feet with sloping shorelines that allow a person to fish the entire perimeter. The main horse arena was totally renovated in 2011 and is complete with covered bleachers with a built-in sound system and covered stalls nearby. A regulation size race track circles around this arena. A second practice arena is regulation size and is equipped with stock pens and a roping box to accommodate team roping competitions and barrel racing events.

Left: Various rodeo competitions are popular events held at the park.

This area is also home to one of the Castle Country Trail System trail heads, and there are over 250 miles of newly marked trails in Castle Country. For a copy of the trail system map see here: Trail Maps. Whatever piques your interest, come experience Castle Country!
