When I think about Cache County; I think, outdoor activities. USU being right at the mouth of Logan Canyon and the many trails that stem from there, how could you not? This area is bustling with bikers, runners, climbers, hikers and on.......If you can think it, it is here.

Parental Guidance required because it is close to the creek. Please be careful. Cache is about a third of a mile along the Jardine Juniper trail. From the parking lot to the cache the trail is level.

Trail Length: 5.8 miles one way
Difficulty: Moderate
Trailhead: Wood Camp, 11 miles from Logan on Hwy 89—GPS: N41°47′800″ W111°38′700″
Elevation Start/Gain: 5400 feet/1870 feet
Route: "This pleasant hike takes you to one of the most popular landmarks of the Logan Canyon area, an ancient, still living, juniper tree. The age of the tree is estimated at about 1500 years old,... [making it] the oldest known Rocky Mountain juniper.... The trail is quite delightful with meadows, fir and aspen groves, unique wildflowers, great vistas, and exquisite fall colors,... which generally peak in late September."
At the ridge you will climb "for about a mile to a junction sign with 'Scenic Route' to the right [overlooking Logan Canyon] and 'Shady Route' to the left [overlooking Cottonwood Canyon]."
