Stūra māja - Tetera nams, kas tautā pazīstams kā „Stūra māja” ir celts 1911. gadā, nams ir arhitektūras piemineklis un to projektējis arhitekts Aleksandrs Vanags. Tetera nams sākotnēji celts kā īres nams ar veikalu izvietošanas funkcijām. Pirmā Pasaules kara laikā tur atradās Latvijas Revolucionārā kara komiteja, vēlāk ēka kļuva par Iekšlietu ministrijas īpašumu. 1940. gada rudenī tajā ievācās Latvijas PSR Valsts drošības komiteja jeb Čeka. Šajā periodā ēkā izveidoja speciālus pagrabus, kuros turēja ieslodzītos. Pazemes cietums, kas atrodas gan zem ēkas, gan zem iekšpagalma, sastāv no kamerām, pārsvarā bez logiem ar koka durvīm ar metāla plāksnēm. Building at Brīvības iela 61 is a former KGB building, called the Corner House, which became the most vivid symbol of the totalitarian regime during the five decades of Latvian occupation. It remains a potent reminder of the last century - a time of large-scale wars, mass repression and genocide - and a relict in 21st-century Riga. The Corner House, a project by the Occupation Museum, provides the opportunity for the wider public to gain insight into the former KGB, or ‘Cheka’, headquarters in Riga by preparing an exhibition on the institution’s operation in Latvia and a tour of the building. Visitors are able to view jail cells, dungeons, strolling areas, the lift for the interrogated and office workspace. It is a revelation for the young generation and foreign tourists as well as a memorial for those who suffered within these walls. Outside, on the side of Stabu iela, there is a comemorative object, called “The Black Threshold”.
The task: Visit the commemorative plaque and find a small plate with text. Note, that I am not looking for answers from the large, commemorative plaque, but a small plate, with some information about the plaque itself.
