Den sørkoreanske kunstneren Do Ho Suh var én av tre kunstnere som i 2008 ble plukket ut av Koro - Kunst i offentlige rom - til å utsmykke det nye regjeringsbygget. På avstand ligner installasjonen på gress som vokser opp av betongen. Først når man kommer nærmere og setter seg på huk, ser man at verket består av 50 000 bronsestatuer av mennesker som løfter i flokk. Statuene er bare 8-10 cm høye og består av 500 individuelle utforminger. Verket symboliserer at hver for oss er vi svake, men sammen kan vi bære de tyngste byrder. Noen steder presses hellene derfor helt opp av figurene. Tittelen er direkte inspirert av ordet grasrotbevegelse og hinter også til at myndighetene skal tjene folket.
Intensjonen med verket er at man skal kunne gå på det og bruke de løftede hellene som sitteplasser.

Krav til logging:

The South Korean artist Do Ho Suh was one of three artists who in 2008 were picked out by Koro - Public Art Norway - to decorate the new government building. At a distance, the installation looks like grass growing from the concrete. Only when you get closer and take a look at it, you can see that the work consists of 50,000 bronze statues of people. The statues are only 8-10 cm high and consist of 500 individual designs. The work symbolizes that alone, each one of us is weak, but together we can bear the heaviest burdens. In some places, the paving stones are therefore lifted up by the figures. The title is directly inspired by the word "grassrot movement" and also intercept that the government should serve the people.
The intention is that pedestrians can walk over the figures and use the raised stones for seating.

Logging requirement:
Take a picture of the installation, a detail of the installation or anything else at the plaza that you want to show others and post it in your log. It is totally optional if you would like to be in the picture, but please include your hand or your GPS.
Logs that do not meet the criteria are deleted without notice.
