På 1600 og 1700 tallet var det mange konglige på besøk på Hafslund Hovedgård og da måtte“Sarpen” (fossen) beskues. Den første som kom skal ha vært Christian I, men offisielt var hans navnebror med nummer V etter seg den første i 1685.
Til hans ære ble det reist et mastetre med krone på toppen. Masten ble plassert på “Kongehøien”(GC211QF) ved Hafslund Hovedgård. Dette ble tydeligvis en tradisjon, for da kong Frederik IV etter å ha “beseet dette store Vandfald og Navnkundige Sarp” i 1704, ble det satt opp nok et mastetre. Den neste som fikk et slikt spesielt minnesmerke var ChristianVI i 1733.
Kronprins Frederik fikk oppleve fossen den 24. juni 1788 også han fikk sin mast reist. Det fikk samtidig også prinsesse Lovise, men hun besøkte Hafslund og fossen i 1773.
Mastetrærne fikk føle tidens tann. På begynnelsen av 1800 tallet da statsråd Rosenkrantz eide godset tok han initiativ til å bygge en paviljong med form av et søyletempel på det samme stedet.
Inne i den runde kuppelen ble de mange kongenavnene skrevet. Også navnene til Karl XV, Oscar II og Karl Johans gemalinne, dronning Desideria, som besøkte Hafslund flere ganger.
Paviljongen sto på “Kongehøien”(GC211QF) fram til 1904 da søylene råtnet opp og truet med å slippe kuppelen.
I 1930-åra ble en kopi av den gamle paviljongen reist i hagen på Hafslund parken, og tradisjonen er gjenopptatt.
I dag står det å lese, med malte bokstaver, på den nederste delen av kuppelen: Chris-tiano Qvinto, Friderico Qvarto, Lovisoe, ChristianoSexto, Friderico Qvinto, Friderico Sexto, MarioeSophioe Fridericoe og Eugenioe.
Høyere oppe i kuppelen står det: Carolo XIV, Desideria, Oscaro I, Carolo XV, Oscaro II, Haakon VII, Olav V og Harald V.

In the 1600 and 1700s there were many royals visiting Hafslund Hovedgård and then the "Sarpen" (the waterfall) had to be seen. The first one was Christian I, but officially his first name brother Christian V was the first, in 1685.
To his honor a masttree with a crown on the top was raised. The mast was located on the “Kongehøien”(GC211QF) at Hafslund Hovedgård. This became a tradition, because when King Frederik IV had "observed this great and famous waterfall with the name Sarp",in 1704, another masttree was set up. The next one who received such a special memorial was Christian VI in 1733.
Crown Prince Frederik visited the waterfall on June 24 1788, also he got his mast raised. Princess Lovise also received a mastetree, but she visited Hafslund and the waterfall in 1773.
The masttrees felt the effects of ageing. At the beginning of the 19th century, when Rosenkrantz the government council owned the goods, he took the initiative to build a pavilion in the shape of a column temple at the same spot.
Inside the roof of the round dome many names of king's were written. Name's as Karl XV, Oscar II and Karl Johans gemalinne, Queen Desideria who visited Hafslund several times.
The pavilion was placed on the "Kongehøien" (GC211QF) until 1904 when the the columns got rotten and threatened to cave in. In the 1930's a copy of the old pavilion was raised in the garden of Hafslund
and the tradition continued.
Today you can read the painted letters on the bottom of the roof: Christiano Qvinto, Friderico Qvarto, Lovisoe, Christiano Sexto, Friderico Qvinto, Friderico Sexto, Marioe Sophioe Fridericoe and Eugenioe.
Higher up on the inside the roof you can read the name's: Carolo XIV, Desideria, OscaroI, Carolo XV, Oscaro II, Haakon VII, Olav V and Harald V .
